Job Description

The Colne Practice has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join our team on a part-time basis for 20-25 hours a week working Monday to Friday.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering safe efficient and patient-focused medicines management services. You will play a key role in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate medication including those in care homes and assisted living settings. Additionally you will support clinical staff in optimising prescribing practices.

The main responsibilities of the role includes:

  • Request prescriptions accurately and efficiently in accordance with NHS and practice protocols
  • Process repeat prescription requests and liaise with clinicians as needed
  • Provide advice to patients on the safe use of medications including over-the-counter products where appropriate
  • Support medicines reconciliation and prescription queries
  • Assist in audits and quality improvement initiatives related to prescribing and medicines management
  • Work collaboratively with GPs nurses pharmacists and other practice staff to support the safe and effective use of medicines
  • Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system (EMIS)

About the Candidate

The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential:
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) or working towards
  • Experience working in a pharmacy or dispensing role
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to patient safety and confidentiality

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3 /Registered Pharmacy Technician (or working towards registration with the GPhC)
  • Previous experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
  • Familiarity with clinical systems (EMIS)
  • Knowledge of current NHS prescribing policies and guidance
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support non-clinical colleagues
  • Self-motivation and a strong commitment to personal and professional development
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently

The Colne Practice is a friendly GP practice with a list size of approximately 10500 patients. Our team comprises 7 GP partners 2 practice nurses 1 HCA 2 clinical pharmacists and reception and admin teams.
