Electrical DCS Engineer

12 months

This role will require their own vehicle and License to drive to sites in the inland empire/Redlands/ Rosemead/Pomona. They will be reimbursed for travel.

you will be responsible for the safe reliable operation and maintenance of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) across power generation water and gas systems. Youll also drive system upgrades and contribute innovative solutions that support the transition to renewable energy technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform advanced DCS maintenance and improvement tasks including logic/design updates software patching device configuration system integration and programming.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to control system hardware and software drawing on deep technical expertise in DCS and power plant operations.
• Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve reliability efficiency and performance.
• Manage and contribute to cross-functional engineering projects including planning design implementation testing and deployment of new control system technologies.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of technical issues by leveraging internal and external resources.
• Supervise and collaborate with internal staff and contractors to deliver new equipment technologies and engineering standards.
• Conduct lifecycle assessments of utility infrastructure and improve preventive maintenance practices to reduce downtime and enhance reliability.
• Perform risk assessments and apply mitigation strategies to ensure operational safety and compliance.
• Support regulatory audits and inspections by ensuring alignment with environmental health and safety standards.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in resolving complex high-impact engineering challenges across departments.
• Maintain accurate engineering design documentation and ensure adherence to design basis.
• Lead or support high-impact engineering studies and initiatives with full technical responsibility.
• Provide mentorship technical training and guidance to junior engineers.
• Uphold high standards of conduct and integrity while protecting physical financial and cybersecurity assets including sensitive data.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related scientific technical or mathematical field.
• 5 years of engineering experience in operations production construction or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with major DCS platforms (e.g. Ovation GE Mark Woodward Rockwell).
• Specialization in Control Engineering Electrical Engineering Power Systems or Power Plant Engineering.
• Familiarity with CEMS RIGs Water SCADA BMS and other industrial control platforms.
• Experience with gas/steam turbines and aero-derivative turbine technologies.
• Ability to work independently take initiative and solve complex problems under pressure.
• Exposure to AI integration in control systems.
• Experience with departmental planning budgeting and project management.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Customer-focused mindset and flexibility to travel as needed.
