About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in Canadian tax and a passion for delivering high-quality client service. You will be responsible for preparing personal and corporate tax returns conducting technical research and supporting various tax-related functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare T1 and T2 tax returns for residents and non-residents
- Draft client correspondence and responses to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Handle indirect tax matters including Canadian sales tax
- Conduct technical research on taxation issues and apply findings to client files
- Stay current with tax legislation and apply new knowledge to daily tasks
- Communicate with tax authorities regarding discrepancies assessments and account statements
- Collaborate with team members to support overall tax operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or an accounting diploma (preferred)
- 13 years of progressive experience in Canadian personal and corporate income tax
- Strong numerical aptitude and familiarity with tax formulas
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Comfortable working in a paperless environment
- Excellent attention to detail and a quick learner
- Strong client service orientation and ability to work well in a team
- Experience with iFirm Tax Prep is considered an asset
- Willingness to learn new software packages and systems
- Staying updated with new tools and systems relevant to the role
Working Conditions
Workdays are regular hours 9am-5:30pm and require in office attendance 2 days/week.
May be required to work outside regular hours to meet workload demands and/or deadlines.
