Location

This position reports on site at the Republic Plaza located at 370 17th Street Denver CO 80202 Monday through Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

What Youll Do

We are currently seeking a Restitution Technician to join our team. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of complex clerical duties related to determining restitution in criminal cases in the Denver District Attorneys Office. It requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and cases prioritize activities analyze facts to determine appropriate course of action emphasize accuracy and be able to meet pre-set deadlines.

The responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Review case file to ensure correct dissemination of letters and Victim Impact Statements send Victim Impact statements
  • Assess and analyze returned victim impact and restitution information; follow up with crime victims collateral agencies co-workers and others in the collection of financial documents necessary to request restitution
  • Verify submitted documents to establish legitimacy and nexus to the criminal case
  • Evaluate forms computations documents and other information for accuracy completeness acceptability and compliance with accepted procedures
  • Assemble and assess financial figures that support a restitution request for crime related loss
  • Complete District Attorneys Restitution Request form for submission to the court
  • Scan document into the appropriate case file and folder include restitution request and supporting documentation
  • Establish and maintain a working knowledge of the restitution statute (C.R.S 18-1.3-601 et al)
  • Document case work and attempts at follow-up in the electronic file
  • Respond to telephone calls and visitors regarding restitution provides routine factual information or directs the call to the appropriate unit or individual
  • Maintain and compile simple statistical records to reflect the work of the unit perform other related duties as assigned or requested
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

  • Working knowledge of standard legal/ court procedures and terminology
  • Attention to detail accuracy and completeness; complete work in a timely manner
  • Ability to gain knowledge of specific database programs records management programs
  • Plan and organize work to meet established deadlines
  • Operate standard office equipment e.g. computer ten-key calculator fax copier etc
  • Be able to perform moderately complex mathematical calculations simple bookkeeping
  • Be able to prioritize and organize large volumes of cases and data
  • Be able to problem solve and interpret information while working independently
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys victim advocates secretarial staff collateral agencies and crime victims

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of full performance office support/clerical work (type and level of an Administrative Support Assistant III)
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
