Job Description

Summary/Objective: The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) supports the implementation of speech-language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists in providing direct and indirect services to students with communication disorders in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This role helps students access their educational environment more effectively through improved communication skills.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students as documented in treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Implement individualized therapy activities using evidence-based strategies.
  • Collect and document data on student progress and communicate findings to the supervising SLP.
  • Assist in preparing therapy materials and organizing resources for student sessions.
  • Support push-in and pull-out models of service delivery.
  • Conduct speech and language screenings as directed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and student progress.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with teachers therapists and other school staff to support student communication needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA requirements. Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the staff handbook and policies & procedures manual.
  • Maintain required licensures and certifications.
  • Attend required training classes and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
Does not supervise others.
Work Environment
This job operates in a school setting with exposure to high levels of noise human elements such as (blood urine etc.); frequent interruptions and fast-paced working this role standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines are routinely used.
Physical Demands
Works in a school setting for students with developmental disabilities. Must meet the minimum physical requirements of the job as described in the pre-employment and annual physical.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with core hours of work 8:00AM-3:30PM

Required Education and/or Experience.
  • Associates degree from an accredited SLPA program or equivalent coursework as required by state licensing.
  • Current certification or licensure as an SLPA in Missouri.
Preferred Education and Experience
1 to 2 years of related experience
