Other Conditions:

Evening weekend and or distance offerings for UH Maui College and or dual enrollment sites may be assigned as part of the regular workload.

Position may be converted from 9-month to 11-month based on program/operational needs.

This is NOT a remote position the job requires in-person work.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Teach a range of English courses to both developmental and transfer-level students focusing on composition.
  2. Design and teach courses that support the attainment of student learning outcomes.
  3. Work independently and with colleagues to identify plan develop implement and assess learning strategies to meet student College and community needs.
  4. Evening weekend hybrid and off-campus early college classes may be assigned as part of the regular workload.
  5. Provide College and community service.
  6. Participate in professional and self-development activities.
  7. Perform related duties as assigned.
  8. Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree in English (Literature Composition ESL)
OR
Masters Degree in Fine Arts (Creative Writing)

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Teaching experience in English composition at developmental and transfer levels.
  2. Experience developing innovative learning experiences that facilitate the achievement of student learning outcomes.
  3. Experience applying effective student-centered teaching methods in a variety of modalities including traditional hybrid and asynchronous.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues to assess student learning and teaching effectiveness.
  5. Proficiency in designing and conducting technologically mediated strategies that engage students in productive learning.
  6. Work experience in business government industry and/or non-profit organizations.
  7. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse colleagues and students.
  8. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach students with diverse academic and linguistic skills.
  9. PhD in English (or related field) with an emphasis on teaching.
