Job Duties

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a motivated individual to fulfill the role of Recovery Residence Quality Assurance Coordinator. The incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety support and services for individuals living in recovery residences across the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will require an individual to maintain accurate records of quality assurance inspections conducted on recovery residences throughout the Commonwealth and provide corrective action plans. Additionally this position is expected to report findings concisely and clearly to the Substance Use Quality Assurance Manager as well as other key individuals.

Primary responsibilities include:
Overseeing and implementing quality assurance programs to ensure that recovery residences are adhering to state and county health and safety regulations internal policies and are recovery focused.
Regularly inspecting and evaluating recovery residences to ensure that they are meeting compliance standards based on local state and federal regulations.
Providing recovery residences with areas of improvement and actionable feedback to address any deficits.
Working alongside DBHDS quality management additional internal offices and recovery residences organizations in the development of quality assurance measures quality improvement plans processes to report deaths and serious injuries for recovery residences and monitoring those plans to ensure their effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Specialized training in substance use disorders treatment and recovery and quality assurance.
Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of substance abuse recovery supports recovery capital concepts and various recovery methods (e.g. 12-step programs Recovery Wellness Plans MAT MI).
Familiarity with recovery residence communities and resources and other support services relevant to individuals in recovery.
Experience conducting audits inspections developing and implementing quality assurance procedures and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. federal state and local health and safety regulations NARR Oxford House SAMHSA).
Experience in tracking documenting and reporting quality levels related to risk management.
Experience in the development of processes and procedures to capture investigate and document problem areas.
Progressively responsible experience in program development data tracking and interpretation of health and safety policies and regulations.

Additional Considerations

Professional experience working in addiction services.
Experience working in peer recovery supports substance use community outpatient Intensive outpatient or residential treatment services.
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
