Job Summary:
- The LTO Material Handler is responsible for transporting rolls to the finishing lines and any waste away from the department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Move freight stock or other materials to and from storage or production areas loading docks delivery vehicles ships or containers by hand or using trucks tractors or other equipment.
- Stage materials or goods before/after production loading and unloading.
- Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
- Record rolls handled or moved on manifest and using RF scan gun.
- Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
- Maintain equipment safety and condition logs and communicate concerns immediately to supervision/management.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- All other duties assigned by management.
Performance Expectations (if applicable):
- Lifting is required of carpet cores weighing approximately 25 lbs. 30 times per shift.
- Standing is required approximately 1 hour per shift.
- Reaching is required for hand held computer approximately 75 times per shift.
- Stooping is required 10 times per shift for intervals of approximately 5 minutes.
- Bending is required for cores approximately 30 times per shift.
- Must be able to operate lift truck.
- Must be able to use scissors
Experience/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read and write and do basic addition subtraction division and multiplication.
- Computer knowledge or data entry skills are a necessary part of the job.
Other Requirements:
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Safety equipment must be worn as required and requirements must be followed for all areas.
- Report to management any quality safety or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
- Responsible for quality and safety of his/her own output.
