QUALIFICATIONS YOULL NEED
- Education: Bachelors degree in social work psychology family studies or related field (Masters MSW or MFT preferred)
- Credentials: Family Services Credential within 18 months of hire; UW-Madison Capstone Certificate encouraged within 5 years
- Experience: Building safe trusting relationships with parents from diverse backgrounds and those living in poverty
- Specialized Knowledge: Trauma effects and manifestations ACEs resilience and protective factors early childhood development (ages 3-5)
- Professional Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills trauma-sensitive approaches
- Preferred: Head Start experience and knowledge of Program Performance Standards
- Additional Requirements: Valid Wisconsin Drivers License with adequate insurance
WHAT YOULL DO
As a Child and Family Resilience Specialist youll empower families by:
- Creating safe trusting and healing environments for Head Start parents/caregivers
- Using research-based curriculum to promote social and emotional well-being for vulnerable children and families
- Helping parents strengthen their own and their childrens social and emotional competencies
- Supporting trauma-sensitive communication between parents and site teams
- Facilitating protective factors and social-emotional support strategies for home and classroom
- Guiding families through journeys of discovery learning and reflection
