Intermediate Integration Verification Validation and Quality (IVVQ) Test Engineer
Position Summary
Thales Canada Defence & Security is engaged in supporting the Canadian Armys Land Command Control Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems which enable critical decisions on a daily basis. Together with industry partners Thales is building on the existing networks and applications to enhance digitized operations support communications between joint and allied forces and monitor and defend against the threats and evolving capabilities of potential adversaries.
To support our growth the IVVQ team (Integration Verification Validation and Quality Team) is looking to add an IVVQ Test Engineer to their team based in Ottawa. The IVVQ Engineer plays a critical role as part of the Ottawa Engineering team responsible for the design conduct and reporting of IVVQ activities.
Please note that this role will involve significant office/lab work as well as working at client site(s). Travel may be required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Write test plans and test procedures that will properly verify and validate the product.
- Plan and Execute Test Events.
- Analyze requirements and contribute to the development of traceability matrices.
- Develop Test cases.
- Work with System Engineers in identifying and analyzing defects.
- Raise project issues/risks and track to resolution.
- Provide Test Reports and status updates on test activities.
- Deploy methodologies (including metrics) tools/platforms necessary for test activities
- Observe test guidelines and Company internal processes
Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience with:
- Test Case development and execution; either manual or automated.
- Requirements Analysis.
- Test Management Tools.
- Demonstrated capabilities:
- Fluent in English skilled communicator both written and spoken.
- Attention to Detail.
- Ability to acquire and maintain Canadian Secret Controlled Goods ITAR NATO Secret and COMSEC security clearances.
- At least three (3) years demonstrated experience in IV&V or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with test automation or test automation tools.
- Demonstrated test experience in military ground based air defense systems including but not limited to radar tactical data links Command and Control (C2) systems and secure voice and data communication systems.

- Security Performance and Stability testing.
- Script and Simulation tools development and maintenance.
- Experience in both V-model and Agile development environments.
- Experience with IBM DOORS.
- Bachelors degree or college diploma in Computer Science Computer Engineering Computer Technology or other related discipline from a recognized university or college.
Physical Demands
- Test sites can be located in difficult-to-navigate areas. This could include shipyards construction sites remote wilderness locations. Although infrequent such sites may need to be used for certain test events. The ability to navigate such sites is a necessity.
- Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment in a lab or field environment.
Special Position Requirements

- 40 hours Monday to Friday
- Physical Environment: Remote on-site at Thales Ottawa and/or at Customer Site.
- Travel is potential can be for Test Events for training or for technical meetings.
