Job Description

Title: Graduate Lawyer

Hours: Full Time (38 Hours) 12-month Contract

Location: Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane

Law Squared is a Human Centred Law firm with an ambitious mission to change the conversations people have about lawyers.

Law Squared offers a distinctive proposition for graduates to launch their legal career in a global firm where our focus is on our clients commercial success not billable hours.

With offices in Melbourne Sydney Brisbane Perth and London Law Squared graduates will work closely with team members to support our clients local and multi-jurisdictional legal needs.

About the Graduate Program:

Our Law Squared Graduates rotate through each of our practice groups over a 12-month period and are guided by a mentor within each rotation. Graduates will also complete an initial onboarding with our Operations team bringing them up to speed with our leading-edge technology stack so they are ready to hit the ground running heading into our key practice areas; Employment Workplace Relations Corporate Commercial and Disputes Litigation.

Graduates will have immediate exposure to client matters and be involved in a range of client relationship building and partnership events providing graduates with exposure to client matters and on-the-job training in a dynamic business.

We know how hard it can be to balance work study and life so our Graduates receive a competitive salary and are offered an additional 10 days of study leave beyond their regular annual leave entitlements to complete their PLT. Graduates are also able to take advantage of our flexible workplace environment.

Learning & Development Program:

At Law Squared we tailor your Learning Development to support your specific career goals and aspirations. We believe in collaboration at all levels so graduates will have mentorship to set goals identify and prioritise commercial skills and technical legal training required.

Outside formal training graduates will start building real world legal expertise by working directly on client matters from the get-go learning from their experienced colleagues and building positive productive relationships with clients.

Practical Legal Training (PLT):

As part of our Graduate Program Law Squared will:

Offer full-time employment for a 12-month period;

Cover the cost of PLT and admission; and

Provide up to 10 days paid leave (separate to your annual leave entitlements) to attend and carry out assessments to complete PLT.

Eligibility:

The Law Squared Graduate Program is open to all LLB / JD Graduates across Australia noting successful candidates would need to relocate to Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane to take up their graduate position.

Candidates for the Law Squared Graduate Program will need to:

have successfully completed their relevant law degree (either LLB or JD) by December 31 2025. (NB: Successful completion does not require you to have attended your graduation ceremony but have successfully completed all units of compulsory study)

have not previously completed PLT (exceptions may apply and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis)

have not been admitted to practice in Australia or hold a practising certification prior to or during the graduate program; and

be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

your application.

Please note: The creative element can be in any file format (PDF JPEG PowerPoint MP3. audio file MP4 video file etc). Please provide a Dropbox link via a Word Doc file as part of your submission if the creative file size is too big or unrecognisable to upload directly in the application process.

*IMPORTANT Please note:

any application that does not include both a CV and creative will not be accepted.

a successful application requires (1) creative submission and (2) CV if this criteria is not met your application will not be considered.
