Seeking: String Teachers to teach violin viola and cello in our After-School Strings Lesson Program on Mondays (Quincy High School) Tuesdays (Parker Elementary School) Wednesdays (North Quincy High School) Thursdays (Squantum Elementary) & Fridays (Beechwood Knoll Elementary School) from 3:00-5:10pm. Classes are 40 minutes each and run once per week from October through the first week of June. Pay is $43.76 per class (3 classes per day)

2025-2026 school year starting in October to June (excluding school breaks and holidays)
Responsibilities Include:
Teach beginning violin viola and cello group lessons to elementary school students (grades 2-5)Performs at a very high level on the violin viola or cello (one of more of these instruments) with a performance or music education degree.Develop and teach strong fundamental skills on the string instrument Maintain excellent classroom managementAdapt to the needs of students at various levels and with various learning stylesCollaborate with the string program team to achieve program-wide learning goalsMaintain a positive and nurturing classroom environmentSet and maintain high standards for student behavior and music learningQualifications:
At least 2 years of prior teaching experience preferredBachelors or equivalent degree in Violin or Viola or Performance or Music EducationBilingual helpful (but not required) Excellent musicianship and artistry as a teacher/performerStrong understanding of violin/viola/cello pedagogyStrong commitment to public music educationStrong interpersonal and communication skills both inside and outside of the classroom Works well with elementary and middle-school childrenCommunicates well both inside and outside of the classroom Able to work with beginning and intermediate string players and understands the challenges students faceQuincy Public Schools strives to create an inclusive and racially affirming environment that welcomes and values the diversity of our staff and students.
