You will conduct experimental work on a small portfolio of projects. You will connect and interpret results to make recommendations for new and improved product formulations. You will provide technical support for new and existing products. You will be reporting directly to Industrial Coating CD Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and carry out a programme of laboratory work for self and assistant (where applicable) covering a range a technical projects in full compliance with all safety and work processes.
You will identify technologies and formulating methods to develop products with the most appropriate and efficient formulations.
Interpret results of laboratory work initiate additional work present conclusions and suggestions for implementation that meet agreed project deadlines.
Provide technical support to other internal functions such as marketing & sales production and procurement.
Contribute ideas for the laboratory work involving new product development existing product improvement formula cost reduction processes & procedural improvement and support to Sales.
Qualifications
Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.5-10 years work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry.
Knowledge of paint making testing techniques and colour theory.
Experience with paint manufacturing and production processes.
Knowledge of formulating rules and principles.
Broad appreciation of raw material suppliers and their technologies.
Sound understanding of PPG and competitive product ranges.
Have good understanding of end user customs and practices.
Working knowledge of all laboratory and EHS procedures.
