The Opportunity:

The Laboratory Assistant 2 is responsible for performing various laboratory support procedures with minimal supervision. This includes tasks such as managing lab waste and research material based on their hazardous components; managing department space; and utilizing complex equipment that incorporates high pressure and extremely hot steam caustic chemicals and other hazardous materials. The LA2 acts as a communications hub between central university departments (Environmental Health & Safety University Stores Surplus Stores Central Receiving Waste Management etc.) and utilizes these relationships to educateVMPresearchers on the proper procedures for various tasks to remain in compliance with university state and local regulations.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary:

$3752 to $5011 Range 42 (Steps A-M) Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

• One years experience as a Laboratory Assistant 1 OR equivalent education/experience.

• Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
