Whats the role

Hydrophobic Button Production is a key component in of the development of the ZEISS Interocular lens (IOL). The Biomaterials Production Lab Operator is responsible for processing the biomaterials used to create the buttons in which IOLs are formed.

Heres what youll do:

  • Comprehensive understanding of all applicable MSOPs QCSOPs GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and line clearance requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation per GDP (Good Documentation Practices) by filling out work orders correctly and accurately recording accepted and rejected quantities.
  • Keep workspace clean and organized.
  • Visual inspection of defects and record rejects on device history record (DHR).
  • Perform visual inspection of material to identify defects and accurately record rejects on device history record (DHR).
  • Demold biomaterial sheets from heated glass molds while incurring minimal damage/rejects.
  • Clean glass molds post demolding.
  • Process biomaterial sheets through a semi-automated punch and die while carefully aligning the material to maximize yield.
  • Perform methanol and hydrophobic button isolation (shakeout) and drying processes.
  • Inspect confirm final quantities and package finished buttons.
  • Perform dimensional inspection for button diameter and thickness.
  • Elevate any process non-conformances to leads supervisors or quality control.
  • Ensure that all finished product meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Listen and communicate effectively with Technicians Leads and Supervisors about any production quality or safety issues.

Do you qualify

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to use commonsense to find resolution when faced with challenges to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Regularly required to walk sit stand bend and twist. Requires some lifting and carrying of equipment of 25 pounds or mildly greater.
  • Vision abilities required for this job include; close vision distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Repetitive use of hands controlled grasping and fine manipulation.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; six months of related experience and/or training.
  • Basic knowledge of computer web browser navigation.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in Medical Device industry is a strong plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate (written reading or orally) with others within and outside the organization (i.e. management supervisors coworkers inspectors and auditors from various governing bodies such as FDA auditors).

The hourly pay range for this position is $16.50 - $21.00.


The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location scope of role qualifications education experience & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
