These inspectors perform Private Side Sewer Permit inspections and work directly with property owners and contractors to ensure private side sewers are built and repairedin accordance withapproved plans Seattle Municipal Code and Ordinances to safeguard public health safety environment and public infrastructure.

Program Implementation
Develop procedural manuals and update data management systems to ensure high quality consistent work product.
Create meaningful KPIs and review data to ensure programs are effectively implemented.
Ensure all regulatory requirements associated with this work are met or exceeded.
Collaborate with external agencies and teams to create aligned goals to avoid and resolve conflict.
Work withthe City Law Department to review and issue enforcementsfor non-compliance with applicable City Code.
Respond to customer complaints and inquiries.

Experience:Requires five years civil engineering experience including two years supervisory experience
AND
Education:AnAssociates degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
OR
Experience and Education Equivalency:Two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent backgroundrequiredto perform the work of the class).
License Certification and Other Requirements:
At the time of appointment must hold a validWashington State Driver License.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather traffic hazardous/toxicsubstancesand work in or near construction sites.
May beto lift over 50 pounds.
May beto stand walk or bend for extended periods of time.
Overnight travel may be.
Desired Qualifications:
Possess an expert level of knowledge in the construction and repair of private sanitary sewer and drainage systems.
Possess and expert level of knowledge anddemonstratethe ability to understand and enforce applicablemunicipal codes.
Possess an expert level ability toread and interpret design/construction plans and apply them to onsite field conditions.
Possess a strong customer service background thatdemonstratesthe ability to interpret and clearly communicate highly technical information to thegeneral publicand contractors for the purpose of explaining relevant codes and resolving conflict.
Possess a thorough understanding of construction site safety protocols and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to hazards that can endanger staff create a threat to public health and safety.
Possess a thorough understanding of construction site Best Management Practices relating to control of stormwater runoff and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to hazards to water quality and the environment.
Possess a thorough understanding of municipal codes and practices with a nexusto butnot directly associated with the construction and repair of private sanitary sewer and drainage systems and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately when these conditionsimpacta worksite. (e.g.issues relating to geotechnical conditions and critical slopes)

Workplace Environment:This position requires 5 days on-site.
The full salary range for this position is $63.52 - $71.10per hour.
