Information Services develops and maintains all computerized resources for the Department of Public Safetys information systems and provides support for over 5000 users statewide atover 70 networks and infrastructure range geographically across the entirety of the State and include the management of firewalls routers switches servers specialty equipment supporting law enforcement operations and network interfaces to dozens of partner law enforcement agencies and federal authorities.
The Application Development Team manages full life-cycle software development and data reporting capabilities; providing custom software solutions and many data interfacing utilities as well as supporting and enhancing statewide off the shelf products for law enforcement information recordation data distribution data aggregation and data reporting for both the Department and many statewide and federal partner agencies.
Some of the mission critical enterprise and law enforcement systems this infrastructure supports includes: the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) Alaska Record Management System (ARMS) Traffic and Criminal System (TraCS) Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) along with dozens of custom applications and interfaces.

One year of the experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer system user support specialty.
Two years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. One year of this experience must have been in a business application scientific application microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
A bachelors degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS) or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associates degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience.
Special Note:
An applicant who is considered under the Substitutionabove qualifies to apply for this job class IF the applicable coursework is completed within three (3) months of hire. Under this option an applicant may receive a conditional job offer; however proof of completion will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.
Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
For some positions in these job classes a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED- Combined posting (2/3/4)
This position is flexibly staffed. It may be filled at the 2 3 or 4 level depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
