Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Provide continuous maintenance and troubleshooting support to service centers to ensure sustained automated vision inspection system performance
- Support vision inspection system quality performance and capability improvement programs
- Monitor and support automated inspection system performance consistency and predictability
- Support automated machine vision and learning system integration for new development projects
- Work with wider teams to improve regional operations performance to achieve shared targets

As a Vision System Hardware Engineer at CHEP you will lead the design development and implementation of advanced vision system solutions for the inspection of Cheps products. Leveraging your expertise in machine vision technologies you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative algorithms and techniques to enhance the accuracy speed and reliability of the pallet inspection processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements design customized vision solutions and ensure seamless integration with existing automation systems.
Major/Key Accountabilities
- Lead the design development and implementation of machine vision solutions for Cheps product inspection applications supporting future automated systems.
- Research and implement state-of-the-art AI technologies including deep learning algorithms for improving the accuracy and efficiency of vision systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop tailored machine vision solutions that meet performance accuracy and reliability goals while ensuring seamless integration with robotic platforms and existing workflows.
- Conduct performance testing and validation of vision systems to ensure accuracy speed and reliability in real-world environments.
- Provides system design expertise training and guidance on machine vision systems and other industry standard tools for the inspection process.
- Develop and maintain documentation including technical specifications user manuals and test procedures for vision system solutions.
- Develop predictive models to anticipate potential issues and optimize vision system functionality.
- Conduct rigorous testing validation and optimization of machine vision algorithms and systems leveraging simulation tools and physical prototypes to validate performance under diverse environmental conditions and operational scenarios.
- Provide recommendations based on data analysis to improve vision system decision-making processes and achieve organizational goals with future automation.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate vision system performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay abreast on the latest developments in machine vision and AI technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in vision system solutions.
Experience
- Min. experience (8-10 years) in a manufacturing or industrial environment with a focus on providing Vision system solutions for the inspection of our products.
- Extensive experience in machine vision system design and implementation with a focus on pallet inspection applications.
- Experience with the development and implementation of machine vision solutions for robotic systems including robot vision guidance and visual servoing to enable precise and reliable manipulation navigation and interaction in various industrial and automation applications.
- Strong proficiency in AI technologies including deep learning algorithms neural networks and computer vision techniques.
- Solid understanding in machine vision hardware and software applications.
- Experience with vision system integration with PLC IPC and robots.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python C or MATLAB for algorithm development and integration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong project management capabilities including vendor managements task tracking timeline management qualification planning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience working in a global or multinational environment with exposure to diverse cultures and business practices.
Skills and Knowledge
- Fluent English and Spanish.
- Operations experience supporting production in continuous improvement opportunity.
- Deep understanding with equipment machine vision equipment development process specification and validation methods.
- Hands on experience with machine vision system design lab test build vision algorithm development and solving.
- Familiar with vision guided robotic applications and solving skills.
- Familiar with Cognex machine vision systems and various other similar technologies.
- Effective Communication and Collaboration with multiple levels within the organization.
- Familiar with project management methods and tools such as MS Project.
- Availability for travel.
