Summary
The Clinical Pastoral Education Teaching Supervisor a member of the Spiritual Health Care Team at Providence Health Care is accountable to the Director Spirituality & Pastoral Care. Within the framework of a Catholic Health care organization and in accordance with the Mission Vision Values and Ethical Framework the Supervisor coordinates a Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) program provides educational/learning opportunities for staff physicians and volunteers on matters of spirituality and pastoral care and performs direct service clinical spiritual care.
What You Bring
Education
- Masters Degree with relevant theological or spiritual studies from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Teaching Supervisor or equivalent experience.
- Current certification as a Teaching Supervisor by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).
- Current membership in good standing with CASC.
- Endorsed by and a member in good standing with a recognized religious or faith group
Skills and Abilities
- Good understanding of Roman Catholic moral teaching and ethical framework
- Demonstrated spiritual maturity and integrity
- Approaches students and others in a person-centered manner with insight discernment and flexibility
- Provides spiritual care with sensitivity openness and respect in a multi-cultural multi-faith context including diverse expressions of spirituality
- Seeks and offers professional consultation with spiritual care colleagues and other professionals
- Effectively manages stress in the roles of teacher mentor and direct care provider
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills with a clear affinity for teaching
- Excellent planning and coordination abilities
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with team and program leaders
- Demonstrated computer literacy including word processing spreadsheets and databases
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Your Day to Day:
- Develops implements and evaluates the Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) program in alignment with standards set by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).
- Establishes and maintains program/course approval and site accreditation with CASC.
- Secures eligibility for academic course credit at the graduate level through the Vancouver School of Theology.
- Collaborates with the Professional Practice Leader and Site Coordinators in screening placing monitoring and evaluating C.P.E. students at Providence Health Care (PHC) sites.
- Partners with C.P.E. Supervisors from other organizations to support regional coordination of pastoral education.
- Contributes to budget development aligned with strategic priorities and ensures effective fiscal management within allocated resources.
- Provides direct pastoral/spiritual care to patients and residents in assigned unit(s).
- Assists the Professional Practice Leader and Site Coordinators in developing work plans to support professional development and skill enhancement for Pastoral Care Services staff.
- Collaborates in designing and delivering workshops and courses on spiritual and pastoral care for PHC staff physicians and volunteers.
- Develops implements and evaluates community-based spiritual/pastoral care courses in partnership with PHC programs.
- Participates in the oversight of pastoral care services across all PHC sites.
- Initiates and engages in research projects related to spiritual and pastoral care.
- Serves on designated committees and maintains internal and external professional responsibilities.
