In this position...

Ford is investing over 50 billion to build state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in US and Eu to manufacture an exciting portfolio of EV vehicles. State of the art technologies and processes for Battery cell arrays and packs form a core of our competitive leadership strategy. Working with strong team of battery cell technology partners we are building brand-new mega manufacturing facilities and will leverage Fords 100years of automobile manufacturing expertise and will be among the largest cell manufacturing campuses in U.S. Like the iconic Rouge complex in Michigan did a century earlier. Ford has selected to partner with global partners for their Battery expertise these facilities under construction now and others in time will usher in a new era for American manufacturing.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Develop manufacturing process: lead engineer line layouts and Implement the Battery Manufacturing processes and launch manufacturing facilities. Processes specific to electrode (mixing coat press slit).
  • Lead simultaneous engineering with Product Purchasing and Suppliers to deliver manufacturing feasibility: Drive design for manufacturability for new Cell and Module products.
  • Work closely with OEMs in the design of manufacturing equipment process and tooling
  • Collaborate with automation and other technology partners to develop competitive solutions for productivity Understand and own ROI.
  • Lead development of Quality methods including process failure mode and analysis (PFMEA) associated gauging requirements and inspection methods. Deliver a Control plan per the quality strategy.
  • Develop Assembly system solutions including workstation requirements (work content automated versus manual buffering strategy redundancy requirements etc.)
  • Define Cycle time / OEE and other performance target with industrial engineering to develop optimal operating and labor strategies.
  • Define equipment acceptance criteria including duration target results and quality inspection plan.
  • Manage schedule and budget.
  • Track and own change management to deliver Quality / Cost and Timing
  • Lead equipment installation and coordinate with building and utilities team
  • Lead on site equipment buyoff per acceptance procedures
  • Support plant operations to achieve System performance objectives OEE Cycle time / JPH et all
  • Enable successful process and system transition to plant operations.
  • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes.
  • Provide relevant process documentation (drawings PM plans spare parts training manuals etc
  • Create and document detailed Manufacturing process know for new technologies and methods.
  • Provide plant assistance to support launch requests and extraordinary needs w/existing cell suppliers.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Manufacturing Mechanical Electrical Automotive or Chemical)
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or project management specifically leading the implementation and launch of new production lines.
  • Proven understanding of fundamental manufacturing principles including process flow line balancing cycle time analysis and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Practical experience in developing and applying quality methodologies such as Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software for layout and workstation design coupled with strong project management skills including budget schedule and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Travel and mobility with short term relocation / ability to work remote is key.

Even better you may have...

  • Masters degree in Engineering (Manufacturing Mechanical Electrical Automotive or Chemical)
  • 5 yers of experience in manufacturing engineering or project management
  • Direct experience in Battery (Cell or Module) manufacturing processes particularly electrode manufacturing or significant experience within the automotive sector.
  • Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) advanced automation robotics and manufacturing simulation tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and executing equipment acceptance criteria (e.g. FAT/SAT) along with a deep understanding of mechanical design principles including tolerance stack-up.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale capital projects and conduct Return on Investment (ROI) analyses for manufacturing technology and process improvements.

This position is a range of salary grades 6 - 8 .
