POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This entry level position assists higher level Application Developers in the analysis development and testing of program logic for a small system or a component or module of a system. Assistant Application Developer positions require an understanding of basic technology concepts. They code test and debug simple programs in one or more languages working from program specifications. The Application Developer Series is distinguished from the Information Systems Analyst Series in that Application Developers perform programming duties and are required to have programming knowledge and experience.
Duties of an Assistant Application Developer:
OPTION I: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree* in Computer Science Information Systems or a closely related** field.
-OR-
OPTION II: One (1) year of recent*** full-time paid experience in coding testing and debugging one or more application systems.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II Light:This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting; considerable walking may be involved.
VETERANS CREDIT

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:
Additional credit will be awarded to qualified candidates who possess the following desirable qualifications:
Experience in developing applications using C# (C Sharp)
Experience in developing and consuming Web APIs (RESTful services)
Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular React or .
Proficient in using GitHub for version control code collaboration and workflow management

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (T&E) EVALUATION: This examination will evaluate the training experience education and desirable qualifications you list on a questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This assessment is worth 100% of your total score.
ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
Qualified candidates who passed the assessment with a score of 70% or higher are placed on the eligible list for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies within the RR/CC as they occur. Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings weekends and holidays.
