UFG is currently seeking a Director Financial Systems & Data who will be responsible for overseeing the administration configuration and optimization of finance systems and data practices to ensure accuracy efficiency and compliance across the enterprise. This role focuses on enabling the Finance function by ensuring financial systems reporting processes and data governance align with the companys strategic objectives regulatory requirements and overall technology architecture owned by IT.
Serving as a bridge between Finance and Technology this role leads a team that manages system configuration data integrity and financial reporting workflows while collaborating closely with IT data governance and business stakeholders. The role is central to ensuring that Finance has the tools data and processes needed to support timely accurate and insightful decision-making in property & casualty specialty and reinsurance businesses.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Financial Systems Administration
- Oversee the configuration and ongoing administration of core finance systems (general ledger treasury reporting tools planning/budgeting applications).
- Ensure finance applications remain compliant with accounting standards regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Coordinate with IT to plan and execute system upgrades enhancements and integrations led by enterprise technology teams.
- Data Integrity & Reporting
- Define and monitor critical financial data elements to ensure consistency quality and reliability across reporting.
- Support regulatory statutory and management reporting by ensuring accurate sourcing and reconciliation of data.
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to ensure systems and data processes enable effective analysis and insight.
- Finance Process Enablement
- Align finance system capabilities to support accounting close financial planning & analysis reinsurance processing and specialty reporting needs.
- Recommend and configure system rules workflows and controls to streamline finance processes while maintaining compliance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency in reporting reconciliations and analytics.
- Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with SOX GAAP and insurance industry regulatory requirements through system controls and documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing system and data documentation evidence and controls testing.
- Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning for finance systems.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead the Financial Systems & Data team in delivering high-quality support and continuous improvement for finance users.
- Collaborate with IT and enterprise architecture to ensure finance systems align with enterprise standards and technology roadmaps.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership on systems data and reporting capabilities.
Job Specifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or MIS required.
Certifications/Designations:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or finance technology certifications such as Oracle Workday SAP or Microsoft Dynamics strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in accounting finance or financial systems roles with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- 8 years of experience within property & casualty insurance preferred
Knowledge skills & abilities:
- Strong understanding of core finance functions including general ledger treasury reinsurance accounting and financial reporting
- Experience configuring and administering finance applications (ERP EPM reporting tools)
- Demonstrated ability to design and enforce financial data governance practices
- Knowledge of insurance industry reporting and regulatory requirements including property & casualty specialty and reinsurance
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to translate between finance business and technology teams
- Proven track record of leading teams and driving process improvements within Finance
- Strong background in process improvement systems implementation and accounting transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.
