PROGRAM MANAGER Political Science - MIT Compass to steward iterations of the initiatives first interdisciplinary class 21.01 Compass Course. Designed by faculty from across MITs School of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences with input from a 13-member Student Advisory Board Compass is part of a multidisciplinary initiative that explores the persistent moral and social questions central to the human experience. The class is taught in a flipped classroom format with in-person contact hours spent on active group discussion activities and debates. Students learn how to think about what kinds of humans they want to be what kind of society they want to help create and how we live together when we have different values and beliefs. Students also can attend plenary activities and field trips to local arts events. More information on Compass can be found on the class website. Will oversee some of the administrative and communications elements of MIT GOV/LAB a research lab in the Department of Political Science that is led by Professor Lily L. Tsai who directs the Compass Initiative; and support the Compass course (21.01) including Management and continued development of the learning and evaluation plan for the course including already-designed survey instruments.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: A bachelors degree in education or social sciences/humanities with an interest in teaching and learning evaluation; interest in pedagogy and curriculum development for social science humanities and/or general education or liberal arts; attention to detail; self-motivation and ability to work on projects independently; and proven ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines. PREFERRED: Masters degree.
This appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal pending funding and progress.
The Program Manager should expect to work from Cambridge MA for the duration of the appointment.
