Key Responsibilities May Include:
Position Purpose
CHEP has implemented advanced systems for automated quality inspection of its products with this technology fully deployed and operational worldwide.
This resource will develop and drive any new projects associated with CHEP systems software as well as new applications for new next-generation systems. The primary role will be:
Design and develop computer vision and deep learning Windows-based applications in industrial environments related to object detection object segmentation and activity/action detection and ensure high performance and reliability.
Dedicated to delivering Machine Vision and Machine Learning projects within the CHEP Supply Chain.
Leverage deep expertise in Windows operating systems and multithreaded software architecture to drive innovative cutting-edge solutions that enhance automated inspection capabilities.
Major/Key Accountabilities
Lead the ideation prototyping and software development of Machine Vision and AI.
Demonstrate expertise in solving computer vision problems.
Develop deep learning and traditional machine learning algorithms for CHEP business.
Design and develop scalable software architectures promoting the best practices in code quality.
Provide ongoing support for production systems improving MV or ML algorithms on demand.
Measures
Delivery of Machine Vision and/or Machine Learning projects based on strategy and business need.
Scope
Global to all CHEP Pallet business units
Challenges
Utilizing existing hardware and images in addition to new image data gathering techniques to produce innovative image analysis models and algorithms.
Development of ML approaches that improve the speed and accuracy of image algorithm development for inspection and quality control methods.
Qualifications
MS or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering with specialization in computer vision and deep learning.
Proficiency in Deep Learning frameworks (Tensorflow Keras or Pytorch).
Proficiency in Python and C.
Proficiency in implementing deep learning architectures for Image classification Object detection and Object segmentation.
Demonstrated experience in scientific research related to Computer vision and Deep learning.
Scientific thinking and the ability to invent implement and lead technology developments in the field of computer vision and machine learning.
Proficiency in CV/ML libraries (OpenCV Scikit-learn Numpy Pandas).
Software development experience in multi-threaded applications.
Strong communication skills in English (B2 level or higher).
Experience
Experience in software development (Python and C) integration with deep learning algorithms and deployment in production.
Experience in Computer Vision development projects.
Experience in Microsoft databases and SQL language.
Experience in multi-facility international organizations desired.
Experience in a diverse multi-cultural corporate environment desired.
Successful delivery of machine learning applications to internal or external customers.
Skills and Knowledge
Mandatory:
Strong Python and C programming capabilities.
Scientific understanding of popular/state-of-the-art deep learning architectures and computer vision algorithms for object detection and object segmentation.
Ability to read scientific publications understand and implement proposed solution
3D image algorithms experience.
Self-driven and strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
Publications in top CV conferences and Journals (CVPR ICCV ECCV NIPS ICML PAMI etc.).
Experience integrating hardware devices (cameras data acquisition systems etc.) using C APIs.
Experience with NVIDIA Jetson ONNX OpenVINO and TensorRT.
Experience in optimizing machine learning model execution on GPUs leveraging tools such as CUDA or other frameworks.
Proficiency in Activity recognition and Object tracking.
Ability to work in a Matrix Organization.
