Job Advertisement: Spraying Operator Open Space Maintenance
Location:Various sites across the Local Government Area (LGA)
Employment Type:Full-time
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-consciousSpraying Operatorto join our Open Space Maintenance this role you will be responsible for the application of bothselective and non-selective herbicidesacross parks reserves streetscapes and other public open spaces within the LGA.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct targeted herbicide spraying to control invasive and unwanted vegetation in accordance with seasonal programs and environmental guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain spraying equipment including boom sprayers knapsacks and ATV-mounted units.
  • Identify and differentiate between desirable and undesirable plant species to ensure appropriate herbicide application.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemical usage application areas and weather conditions.
  • Comply with all relevant safety environmental and legislative requirements including chemical handling and PPE protocols.
  • Liaise with team members supervisors and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
About You:
  • Experience in herbicide application in open space or horticultural settings.
  • Knowledge of selective vs. non-selective herbicides and their appropriate use.
  • Current Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid drivers license (manual preferred); MR license desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in local government or contracted open space maintenance.
  • Familiarity with GIS or digital mapping tools for tracking spray zones.
