Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project / Portfolio Manager to support a California State client in managing and delivering complex projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills proven experience managing enterprise-level projects and expertise in portfolio governance. This is a remote role requiring the ability to work independently while engaging with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage large-scale IT and business projects from initiation through closure.
Oversee project portfolio governance ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.
Develop project charters schedules budgets and risk management plans.
Manage project scope timelines deliverables and resources.
Provide regular project status reports and executive updates.
Collaborate with stakeholders vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
Ensure compliance with State client standards policies and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

Active PMP certification (mandatory).
Bachelors degree or higher (official degree certificate required; transcripts not accepted).
10 years of professional project management experience with at least 5 years managing large-scale or government projects.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PMBOK Agile Hybrid).
Exceptional communication presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
