Job Description

Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Location: Keesler Medical Center Keesler AFB Biloxi MS 39534

Work Schedule: Monday Friday 40 hours per week; 8Hrs Shift (0with 1-hour lunch). On-call required after hours and some weekends with 60-minute response time.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years full-time experience within the past 36 months performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures.

    • Experience with abdominal pelvic obstetric gynecologic and vascular ultrasound imaging.

  • License/Certification:

    • Current certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-Sonography).

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC.

  • Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations including general OB/GYN abdominal small parts and vascular studies.

  • Operate ultrasound equipment and acquire diagnostic-quality images as requested by physicians.

  • Review and analyze sonographic images; provide preliminary technical findings for physician interpretation.

  • Prepare examination rooms verify patient identity review medical history and explain procedures to patients.

  • Ensure patient safety comfort and confidentiality during all procedures.

  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment ensuring quality imaging and compliance with manufacturer and DoD standards.

  • Document procedures and patient information in medical records accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Assist radiologists and physicians in interventional ultrasound-guided procedures when required.

  • Support quality assurance peer review and accreditation requirements.

  • Train and mentor new sonographers technicians and students as needed.

  • Participate in emergencies and urgent imaging requests to support patient care.
