Description

Position Title: Leadership and STAY FLY Programs Manager

Reports To: San Mateo County Associate Director

Community: San Mateo County

Office Location: Redwood City CA (up to 50% hybrid role of in-person and remote)

Compensation: $84026/year generous benefits package

Leadership Program Summary

The FLY Leadership Training Program is a ten-month program for youth who are interested and motivated to become changemakers in their communities. Youth are identified based on their needs for support particularly around education legal advocacy social support and safety. Program components include the wilderness retreat fun events and service learning and leadership coaching. For more info visit FLY Program: The STAY FLY Program builds agency self-sufficiency and self-advocacy in transitional-age youth while decreasing their likelihood of deeper justice system involvement. STAY FLY serves 50 youth in law-related education workshops and 15 youth in case management each year.

Leadership and STAY FLY Programs Manager - Position Summary

The Leadership and STAY FLY Programs Manager oversees and manages the Leadership Program and STAY FLY Program in San Mateo. This position focuses on executing programs and grant-mandated deliverables through the implementation of our Theory of Change. This position will manage and cultivate collaborative relationships with school community and system stakeholders and partners to achieve program goals and outcomes. This position directly supervises four full-time staff and oversees two programs containing a total of 5 staff.

Position Responsibilities

Programs Operations and Management

  • Responsible for day-to-day managing of the Leadership Program and STAY FLY Program and meeting of all program and grant-mandated deliverables quartely reports and outcomes including managing new and existing program partnerships and meeting program goals
  • Support Leadership Program and STAY FLY Program growth includes developing and maintaining new referral pipelines and establishing new program sites/workshop locations
  • Oversee planning and logistics for program events (i.e retreat prosocial events)
  • Conduct regular site event and case management visits providing relevant feedback to staff and effectively and quickly connect with and engage youth in FLYs programs
  • Manage comprehensive budgets for all program needs ensuring compliance with government and foundation grants and contracts
  • Collaborate with FLYs County Leadership and Youth Voice Department to ensure youth receive effective leadership coaching and development and directly facilitate leadership development activities as needed
  • Collaborate with the SMC Law Program to recruit new cohorts of LTP youth and support coordination between the STAY Site Manager and Law Program Site Manager for volunteer recruitment and training purposes.
  • Develop revise and document policies and procedures for program additions or modifications

Program Staff Supervision and Performance Management

  • Hire supervise coach and evaluate a team of 4 direct reports and 1 indirect report.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and 1:1 meetings with direct reports to ensure cohesion among team members and provide guidance oversight and feedback
  • Develop training plans and trainings for staff in collaboration with the San Mateo County Associate Director and Talent team
  • Conduct annual and 90-day performance reviews and professional development plans in collaboration with direct reports and regularly review work-product to provide staff with appropriate feedback
  • Actively participate and in some cases lead efforts for general staff development and training as needed (i.e. special task force meetings creation of policies and procedures etc.)
  • Provide support and effective crisis management for staff and youth before during and after program time including helping volunteers support program youth through difficult issues such as teen pregnancy substance use re-incarceration abuse trauma etc.

Community Engagement and Stakeholder Management

  • Attend and actively participate in school systems and community events meetings and committees to understand the needs of the community in which the youth live and to participate in opportunities to engage youth in advocacy work that aligns with the county and programs systems change focus
  • Lead the programs in identifying and partnering with community based organizations or companies for the purpose of resource distribution community building and youth-led advocacy work
  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools community based organizations and system partners to recruit youth and to ensure access to resources and opportunities for youth to elevate their voice in the community

Grant Reporting and Program Audits

  • Compile relevant data and complete monthly quarterly and year-end grant reports for program funding sources
  • Maintain accurate organized and up-to-date records of all program and grant components
  • Train and support program staff in their roles and responsibilities for audits

Compensation & Benefits
