Job Description
Job Description: Security Engineer IV (Virtualization)
Key Responsibilities
- Design implement maintain and troubleshoot VMware vSphere ESXi Server environments.
- Develop implement and maintain advanced PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI scripting to automate tasks.
- Administer and optimize Horizon VDI environments with Unified Access Gateway (UAGs).
- Manage and optimize Windows 10/11 in virtualized environments using VMware Optimization tools.
- Support geographically dispersed multi-site VMware environments with expert-level troubleshooting.
- Administer VMware vCenter and vSphere ESXi host feature sets including vSphere Lifecycle Manager vDS HA DRS vCLS and storage management.
- Administer manage and troubleshoot F5 LTM load balancing appliances for high availability.
- Administer manage and troubleshoot NetApp ONTAP NetApp E-series Storage Brocade Fibre Channel Switches and SAN technology.
- Develop maintain and update detailed system documentation diagrams and records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects and provide expert-level technical leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance in technical best practices.
- Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation and support operational needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connections performance and throughput issues.
- Ensure compliance with CIS Controls NIST SP 800-53 and DISA STIG standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Cybersecurity or related field; or equivalent combination of education certifications and experience.
- 10 years of Information Security and Virtualization Systems Administration experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of VMware vCenter vSphere ESXi Horizon VDI and related infrastructure technologies.
- Hands-on experience with F5 LTM load balancers NetApp ONTAP storage Brocade Fibre Channel switches and SAN management.
- Strong scripting expertise using PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI.
- Current VMware certification (VCP-DCV 2025 or higher e.g. VCAP-DCV).
- Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to lead teams mentor junior staff and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards and compliance frameworks (CIS NIST DISA STIGs).
