Job Summary

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions disorders and/or injuries. This is a weekend option position and will be assigned to the inpatient orthopedics setting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providequalitypatientcareevaluationassessmentandtreatmentappropriateforpatientswithcomplexorspecialized orthopedic/post-surgical needs.
  • Participateinthedevelopmentofinnovativeclinicalteachingactivitiestomeetthelearningneedsofstaffandstudents.
  • Exhibitdivisionaland/ordepartmentalleadershipby:Serveasaclinicalresourceandmaintainhighlevelofclinical productivity.
  • Participate in clinical research and collaborate on specialprojects.
  • Assist with setting and accomplishing divisional/departmental goals and assists management asnecessary.
  • Develop implement and expand learning opportunities and skills development for staff andstudents.
  • Assist in establishing new programs as well as maintaining and developing currentprograms.
  • Assist in the administration of the departmental Quality AssuranceProgram.
  • Participate in the development of service operations policies andprocedures.
  • DemonstratesrespectforallmembersoftheUniversitycommunitywhileperformingonesdutiesandIresponsetoadministrators supervisors coworkers andcustomers.

  • RepresentstheinterestsoftheUniversityofaunitleadershipintheuseofresourcestomeetserviceandproductivity demands within unit goals and budgets; strives to promote continual process and qualityimprovement.
  • Seeksopportunitiestoenhanceonesownprofessionalknowledgeskillsandabilitiesastheyrelatetoonescurrentpositionand/ortoprepareforpotentialfuturerolesandoverallcareerdevelopment.

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 469000 square foot facility is home to UI Health Cares nationally recognized Orthopedics service line offering comprehensive coordinated and accessible care across the outpatient inpatient and surgical venues. Percent of Time: 60% 24 hours per week Weekend Option

Type of Position: Part Time-Weekend Option

Schedule:Friday 3:00pm-7:00pm Saturday/Sunday 7:00am-5:30pm

Location:North Liberty Campus

Weekend Option Program:The selected candidate will be required to work a specified weekend work schedule which includes 24 hours each weekend. During each six-month period you will be scheduled for 24 weekends with two (2) weekends off to be arranged with the manager. Participation in the program requires a minimum commitment of six (6) months. As part of the program you will receive a differential for hours worked between 3:00pm Friday and 7:30am Monday. The weekend option differential is fifty percent (50%) of the regular hourly rate. You may also be eligible for shift differential for eligible hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelors degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required
  • Entry level experience in physical therapy in an inpatient acute care setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 1-3 yearsexperience in Physical Therapy
  • 1-3 yearsexperience in providing physical therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting
  • Experience in critical care
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated leadership in a work or academic setting
