Job Description: Security Engineer IV Linux Systems
Key Responsibilities
Design implement maintain and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Server environments (v8-v9).
Develop and maintain advanced automation and scripting solutions (BASH Perl JavaScript Python) to optimize operations and resolve issues.
Administer and maintain enterprise Linux environments including Ansible RHEL Satellite firewall configurations (NFTables/Firewalld/IPTables) DNS (ISC2 BIND) and Postfix/SMTP relay services.
Ensure interoperability and integration between Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.
Support container runtime environments such as Mirantis (formerly Docker) and cloud services like AWS.
Implement and maintain GitLab for source control and automation processes.
Develop document and maintain standard operating procedures system designs and configuration records.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers fostering knowledge transfer and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT and security teams on enterprise infrastructure projects providing guidance and support.
Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation providing timely resolution for critical incidents.
Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity performance and throughput issues across distributed environments.
Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards including NIST 800-53 Rev. 5 CIS Controls and DISA STIGs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Cybersecurity or related field (or equivalent combination of education certifications and experience).
10 years of professional experience in Linux/UNIX system administration including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v8-v9).
Expertise in automation tools such as Ansible and RHEL Satellite.
Hands-on experience with scripting languages (BASH Python Perl JavaScript).
Knowledge of DNS (BIND) SMTP relay Linux clustering NFSv3/v4 PXE boot and SELinux.
Experience with Mirantis Container Runtime (Docker) AWS cloud environments and GitLab.
Current Red Hat certification such as RHCSA RHCE or RHCA (one version release current or previous).
Strong problem-solving analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to work independently and within teams.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal security standards (CIS Controls NIST 800-53 DISA STIGs).
