General Information:

James Madison University a Division I member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference is accepting applications for an Associate Director of Basketball Performance to operate out of the Atlantic Union Bank Center. This position will work primarily with womens basketball and mens golf and would assist the department with cross-coverage as needed. This position is full time with a comprehensive benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing programs guiding student-athletes through a regimen of exercises to optimize performance and decrease injury potential.
  • Assisting with the oversight of sport-specific conditioning programs.
  • Teaching proper weight lifting speed agility and conditioning techniques.
  • Maintaining athletic team schedules and hands-on supervising workouts of student-athletes.
  • Performing assigned work in a timely manner and meet or exceed all deadlines.
  • Assisting in the implementation of rehab programs prescribed by the doctors and sports medicine staff.
  • Supervising and mentoring student assistants (practicum internship and volunteer students) and graduate assistant coach.
  • The strength and conditioning professional will be required to maintain the appropriate certifications which should include CSCCa/SCCC or NSCA/CSCS certification at a minimum along with CPR/AED certification.
  • Attendance at all team practices and home games is expected.
  • Traveling for away games
  • Coordinating the GPS athlete monitoring system for WBB and sharing and communicating player training loads with coaches and sports medicine staff.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must have appropriate certifications (CSCCA/ SCCC or NSCA/ CSCS) and CPR/ AED certification
  • Bachelors degree preferably in health-related field (kinesiology health behavior sciences etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties within the athletic department and campus community
  • NCAA experience with basketball and/or Olympic sports
  • 2 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to advanced continuing education

Preferred:

  • Masters degreepreferably in health-related field (kinesiology health behavior sciences etc.)
