Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer is a hybrid role. This individual will support the construction team by managing technical documentation coordinating daily site activities and ensuring the project is delivered on time within budget and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Lead Superintendent and Project Manager this role requires a strong balance of technical expertise organizational skills and on-site leadership to support the successful execution of construction projects. Position will provide Health/Dental/Vision/401k Plan


Key Responsibilities:



On-Site Oversight (Superintendent Duties):

  • Supervise daily on-site activities to ensure compliance with project schedules safety standards and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors suppliers and construction crews to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress identify issues and ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Lead daily site meetings including safety briefings and toolbox talks to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Assist in resolving on-site challenges and escalate issues to the Lead Superintendent or Project Manager as needed.


Project Coordination (Project Engineer Duties):

  • Update project documentation including RFIs submittals drawings and change orders.
  • Track and manage logs for RFIs submittals and punch lists ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing project schedules budgets and reports.
  • Support the procurement process by issuing bid documents reviewing scopes of work and preparing contracts.
  • Collaborate with design professionals and consultants to address technical questions and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Utilize construction management software (e.g. Procore Bluebeam) for project tracking and reporting.


Communication & Reporting:

  • Act as a liaison between the office and field teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Lead Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate daily logs including site activities manpower and equipment usage.
  • Support the preparation of client-facing status reports and project documentation.


Quality Control & Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify quality standards and compliance with project specifications.
  • Participate in the project closeout process including final inspections punch lists and turnover documentation.


Requirements

Qualifications:


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • 4 years of experience in construction as a Project Engineer Superintendent or similar role.
  • Experience in both technical documentation and on-site supervision is highly preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or a related field is sought but not required.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of construction processes plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g. Procore Bluebeam Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to balance office and field responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to work effectively with teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving project needs.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • LEED Green Associate or AP (a plus).

Working Conditions:

  • Significant portion of time spent on construction sites.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites including uneven terrain and various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
