Engineer Mechanical Test - Personal Protective Equipment
Intertek a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance Testing Inspection and Certification) Services is looking for a Test Engineer to join our team in Cortland NY to support ourPPE lab.

What are we looking for
The Test Engineer position is responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S. Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Under the guidance of a more senior Engineer may also conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s). This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Salary & Benefits Information
The salary range for this position is$70K - $73K. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set experience qualifications and other job-related reasons.In addition to competitive compensation packages Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid holidays. What youll do:
Listed examples are illustrative and representative of the tasks required of this position and are not intended to be complete or exclusive.
- Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
- Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
- Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
- Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site.
- Develop set up and follow established test plans.
- Compile test results during construction review and data and product description and type final report using established report report to reviewer for final approval.
- Communicate project status and test results to client sales personnel and management throughout testing.
- Within policy guidelines identify properly document and recommend engineering judgments.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering.
- 0years directly related experience related to product safety testing or certification.
- Microsoft Office expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time as business dictates.
- A valid drivers license and reliable driving record.
- Applicants will be required to complete an I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Textile background is a plus.
- Working knowledge in electrical circuit design/analysis principles.
- Demonstrated experience with U.S. Canadian and other international product safety standards.
