The Journeyman Lift Electrician is primarily responsible for ski lift electrical maintenance both preventative and unscheduled working closely with the Lift Maintenance team and Electrical team. The position will also work on snowmaking systems and assist with other electrical maintenance throughout the resort as the need arises. This is a challenging position in an outside environment that typically includes the use of snowmobiles and ATVs climbing ski lift towers and servicing on-mountain systems in all weather conditions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following other duties may be assigned)

  • Maintains knowledge of ski lift electrical operation and controls
  • Demonstrates familiarity with analog digital and PLC controls interfacing low and high voltage systems to operate ski lifts and snowmaking systems
  • Possesses and maintains Journeyman electrical license
  • Demonstrates familiarity with National Electrical Code and ANSII B.77 code
  • Maintainsknowledge of AC variable speed drives DC motors DC variable speed drives battery poweredlowvoltage 24VDC controls
  • Diagnoses repairs and provides maintenance of electrical systems and equipment
  • Utilizes working knowledge of electrical and electronic control/sensor devices and their functions testingand installation
  • Operates a snowmobile safely and responds to stopped lift issues quickly and efficiently in all types of weather conditions
  • Maintains all OSHA requirements as well as the National Electric Codes
  • Troubleshoots using electrical testing equipment to diagnose problems
  • Maintains knowledge ofand experience working with digital fire alarm systems
  • Demonstrates experience in working with LAN cabling such as fiber optic cable and CAT 6 coppercabling and components
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor which could be directlyrelated or un-related to original position

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four years in an apprentice program and 4000 hrs of work experience in the electrical field or approved equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATION
Must have a Vermont State Journeymans License.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be able to climb chairlift towers to troubleshoot/repair equipment at heights of up to 70 feet
Knowledge of electrical codes
Possess stronger computer skills
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
Ability to give accurate estimates.
Ability to access problems solve and repair.
Valid drivers license
Must have own transportation and tools.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to perform standard electrical calculations such as proper conductor and conduit sizing Ohms law calculations single and three phase voltage drop power and current calculations. Ability to draw accurate diagrams and schematics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and electrocution. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

RESORT CONDITIONS
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied and in many cases include steep stairways multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas subject to very cold sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s) skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must indoors and out. Workdays and hours as well as the number of hours required will vary with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
