Job Description

Position Summary:

The University of Akron is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Part-Time Employment Coordinator to support the Human Resources Operations Team. The Employment Coordinator plays a key role in the recruitment and hiring process by assisting with job posting applicant communication onboarding and maintaining accurate employment records.

This position requires strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to provide excellent service to applicants employees and hiring managers and hiring committee chairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with posting job openings in the applicant tracking system and on external job boards.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities and communication with candidates and hiring managers or hiring committee chairs.
  • Support new hire processes including background checks onboarding and ensuring required onboarding documents are completed timely.
  • Maintain accurate employment records and ensure compliance with university policies and applicable regulations.
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants and hiring committees regarding employment processes.
  • Assist with employment verifications and provide general HR administrative support as assigned.

Additional Position Information:

Education: 18 months of education or training beyond high school required. Bachelors degree preferred.

Required qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience working with a data management system and general office procedures preferably within a human resources environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in work.
  • Excellent communication customer service analytical thinking problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Human Resources employment services or higher education
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and HRIS platforms (e.g. Workday)

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time 20-29 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling may be available within normal business hours
