Overview
CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island 1887. Today our hospital is a regional referral center with more than 100 physicians and more than 1100 team members working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home where they can be supported by their family friends and community.
Responsibilities
- Check-in with the outgoing CNA at the beginning of your shift to get a report on your patients.
- Conduct hourly rounds on patients checking vitals maintaining whiteboard information and assisting with care as needed.
- Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may mean helping them reach a recliner in their room walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist released patients in getting safely to their vehicles outside.
- Assist patients with hygiene needs. This can include a full bed bath an assisted bed bath or retrieving towels and soap for ambulatory patients.
- Help the bedside nurse with tube insertions such as an NG tube rectal tube or catheter. You may be holding a cup of water holding the patient or providing the nurse with supplies as needed and cleaning up after.
- Help the bedside nurse with any wound checks or dressing changes. This may mean holding the patient or supplies and cleaning up after.
- Change bed linens check patients weight and other tasks as assigned each day.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Successful Completion of the 75-hour state-approved Nursing Assistant course
- Active Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing in Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
