We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Miami. This role is responsible for executing all aspects of the monthly general ledger close process including journal entries reconciliations and financial analysis. The Senior Accountant also supports monthly quarterly and annual reporting deliverables and will lead special projects to drive process improvements.
The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This role also provides guidance to staff accountants supports audits and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting processes for assigned areas such as fuel leases compensation and benefits pensions IT and other corporate accounts.
- Ensure accuracy in the preparation and posting of monthly adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations investigate variances and resolve reconciling items.
- Lead and manage special projects including coordinating resources timelines and reporting to management. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for senior management including P&L and balance sheet reporting.
- Perform analytical reviews of financial results understand drivers of variances and coordinate variance analysis across finance teams.
- Support quarterly and annual deliverables including reporting packages certifications and variance analyses.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to management and peers on accounting-related topics.
- Provide supervision and cross-training to staff and senior accountants as needed.
- Assist management with internal and external audits ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Accounting (required)
- Masters degree or MBA (preferred)
Certifications
- CPA (preferred not required)
Experience
- 4 years of experience in public or private accounting
- Experience with full-cycle accounting month-end close reconciliations and variance analysis
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables v-lookups etc.)
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Oracle Financials or similar ERP systems
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of GAAP and ability to apply accounting principles to business transactions
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ability to adapt to a dynamic environment
- High level of integrity professionalism and respect for confidentiality
- Ability to work onsite in Miami
- Comfortable working a temporary role
The pay for this position is $60 an hour.
