Underground Utilities Foreman / Buried Foreman
We are seeking an experienced buried crew foreman to join our team and lead underground utility installation projects. The successful candidate will manage crew operations ensure safety compliance and oversee the installation of underground infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Management
- Supervise and manage daily activities of 1-2 construction crews
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractors as needed
- Ensure effective communication between team members and stakeholders
Technical Operations
- Utilize heavy equipment and trucking to excavate install and complete underground utility projects
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications
- Perform material take-offs and estimate project requirements
- Operate various heavy equipment including backhoes loaders excavators and asphalt rollers
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain safe work environments in compliance with state federal and OSHA regulations
- Continuously inspect work sites for potential hazards or safety concerns
- Ensure all team members follow established safety protocols
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively (both oral and written) with local officials management customers and other stakeholders
- Travel to and from various job sites as required
- Coordinate project activities with superintendents and other construction personnel
Required Qualifications
Experience & Licensing
- Valid Drivers License (unrestricted)
- 3-5 years of experience in underground dry utilities construction
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and project specifications
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment with various control systems
- General knowledge of construction practices and equipment
- Understanding of electricity and utility installation materials
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 50-150 pounds
- Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to stand walk stoop kneel crouch and crawl for extended periods
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders safely
- Capable of sitting on equipment for extended periods
Communication & Teamwork
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with crews leadership and clients
- Function as an integral part of a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or willingness to obtain one
- OSHA certification
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) advantageous
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience
Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoor work environment
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions
- Use of required safety equipment including safety boots glasses hard hat and other protective gear
- Travel between multiple job sites
Physical Demands
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and equipment
- Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and stationary objects
- Capability to wear required safety equipment for extended periods
