Senior Developer Job Type: Contract
Work Location: Midtown Manhattan (hybrid 3x days onsite a week)
Position Summary
We are hiring a Senior Developer to support initiatives within the Financial Crimes Technology (FCT) team of our client. This group is part of the Non-Financial Risk Technology (NFRT) division and is responsible for building and maintaining platforms that help the firm manage regulatory obligations and protect against financial crime.
The role will center on developing solutions in big data environments to enhance transaction monitoring customer behavior analysis and scenario tuning. You will collaborate with technology partners and compliance stakeholders to deliver high-quality scalable applications that align with both business needs and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and compliance objectives into effective technology solutions.
- Design and implement applications using Scala/Spark on HDFS platforms.
- Write technical design specifications and maintain solution documentation under Agile Scrum practices.
- Conduct data profiling validation and lineage analysis to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Build and execute unit tests regression suites and automated BDD-based testing.
- Participate in broader testing cycles including UAT to confirm functionality.
- Streamline and support CI/CD release processes across environments.
- Collaborate with global FCT and NFRT teams to deliver integrated systems that strengthen financial crime defenses.
Required Experience
- 3 years hands-on coding experience with Scala/Spark.
- At least 2 years of development experience on HDFS-based platforms.
- Strong command of SQL (DB2 or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Actimize ActOne features.
- Proven ability to optimize code for scalability configurability and performance.
- Strong data analysis and profiling background.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in Agile project settings.
Preferred Background
- Experience on AML or financial crimes projects.
- Hands-on work with Actimize SAM or CTR modules.
- Knowledge of data visualization (e.g. Tableau).
- Big Data technology certification(s).
- Understanding of BDD principles.
- Exposure to predictive analytics and machine learning applications.
