About the Role

Were looking for an experienced and strategic HSE & Field Training Manager based in our head office in Invercargill to lead our health safety environmental and field training functions across PowerNet and our managed networks.

Reporting to the GM People Safety and Communication this is a key leadership role where youll oversee the development and delivery of safety systems training programs and compliance frameworks. Youll work closely with senior leaders and operational teams to ensure our recently renewed HSE strategy is fully implemented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of seven fostering a proactive safety culture and continuous learning across the organisation
  • Implement PowerNets three-year HSE and Field Training strategy
  • Deliver high-impact training programs that build capability confidence and leadership at all levels of the business
  • Manage audit processes both internal and external to maintain compliance and drive performance improvements
  • Oversee contractor safety and ensure alignment with PowerNets standards and expectations
  • Use data and insights to monitor safety performance report on objectives and inform strategic decisions
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand customer expectations and integrate feedback into HSE initiatives
  • Champion innovation in safety systems training delivery and operational practices to support continuous improvement

What Youll Bring

Youll hold a relevant tertiary qualification or a Level 6 Diploma in Health & Safety along with professional membership with NZISM or an equivalent body.

With at least five years New Zealand or Australian experience in HSE roles preferably within the electricity industry or medium-large sized industries managing critical risks youll bring a strong foundation in safety leadership and industry knowledge. Youll be confident engaging with a range of people including field staff frontline leaders senior leaders board members and our service contractor partners and skilled at influencing outcomes through clear communication and strategic thinking.

Your ability to manage change lead teams and build collaborative relationships will be key to your success. Youll be experienced in interpreting data and safety metrics and using Microsoft Word and Excel with ease. A pragmatic and resilient mindset will help you navigate competing priorities while staying focused on results.
