MICA Open Studies is one unit of the College that opens its doors to the community at large. Through Community Education courses taught by MICAs excellent faculty adult artists can build skills and develop confidence in a variety of fine arts/design disciplines. Introductory courses provide the foundation for learning techniques and concepts while advanced courses encourage students to further explore their creativity. Design professionals can advance their knowledge through MICAs Professional Practice course in the areas of graphic design and web design advertising and creative entrepreneurship. Real-world issues are discussed and innovative projects are assigned to provide a well- rounded meaningful experience aimed at preparing students for challenges that are faced in art and design careers.
Position Dates: Fall Spring and Summer each Academic Year Position to start September 5 2025
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Open Studies Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing model sessions for three classes per semester. This role includes scheduling and booking models for these classes as well as any additional Open Studies classes requiring models. The coordinator oversees models during sessions assists students and ensures that classrooms are properly set up and cleaned before and after sessions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage logistics and communication with models and faculty are essential for this position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Schedule and book models for three Open Studies classes per semester as well as additional classes as needed.
Coordinate with instructors to determine class needs and model requirements.
Oversee models during class sessions ensuring they understand the sessions expectations and schedule.
Assist students during class providing support with model setup and direction.
Prepare classrooms before sessions including setting up easels lighting and other necessary materials.
Clean and organize classrooms after sessions ensuring all materials are properly stored.
Maintain and update the model schedule ensuring smooth communication with models and instructors.
Handle any last-minute scheduling adjustments or model replacements.
Ensure a safe respectful and professional environment for both models and students.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree; preferably in Fine Arts Art History Art Education or Arts Administration
Experience managing students and staff in higher education
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency
Familiarity with campus resources
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with experience and college policy paid hourly a minimum of $20 an hour for a maximum of 20 hours a week

Work environment: While performing the duties of the job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
