We are currently seeking a Forklift Operator at our Summerside PEI fresh potato packing plant. This is a Full time seasonal hourly position approximately Mid-September- August annually. This position reports to the Packing Shed Manager McCain Produce & Fertilizer PEI.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for loading and unloading palletized products loading packaging required to operate production lines and other rotational duties throughout the site.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to follow All Safety Policy and Procedures as outlined by the Company
• Drive in a defensive manner to prevent product damage or injury
• Responsible for charging the forklift battery
• Read and understand Purchase Order load sheets to load product on trucks
• Remove completed pallets from the line wrap and put into storage area
• Perform all other duties/tasks as assigned by Manager
• Communicate any changes issues etc. to other operators. Must maintain all required documentation and check sheets
• Various production tasks may be assigned as required
• Complete vehicle operators checklist for lift truck to ensure lift truck is safe
• Participate in team meetings as required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

• Must be able to obtain forklift operators certificate
• Knowledge of lift trucks and proper driving procedures
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and get along well with others
• Must be self-motivated observant and have excellent attention to detail.
• Have good initiative and a positive attitude
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Lifting is required approximately 50 lbs
• Team player with excellent attendance
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment adapting to and embracing change as it occurs
• Must possess a good safety record and demonstrate safety first on a continual basis

OTHER INFORMATION

• Able to work weekends and evenings when required

Compensation Package: $19-21/ Hour
