Position Summary:
Typical intern responsibilities mayinclude but are not limited to:
- Work with the Engineering staff to support transmission line projects both capital and maintenance.
- Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks spanning all aspects of transmission line engineering including performance/efficiency contract and project management specifying new and replacement equipment making process improvement recommendations supporting requests from operations and maintenance.
- Through practical field experience and mentoring successful candidates will gain practical engineering skills professional confidence and people skills.
This position is for June 2026. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internships initial term based on the candidates successful performance and Xcels business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current student Sophomore Junior or Senior status (as of May 2026).
- Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree inCivil Engineering Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Able to commute to the corporate office in Denver CO or Amarillo Texas.
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) with potential part-time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework including classes in applicable engineering disciplines
