Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Towers & Structures Inc is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineering Operations Supervisor at our business unit located in Rock Hill SC. The successful candidate will support and enhance collaboration between our US-based operations and our offshore team in India. This role is critical to ensuring technical excellence in creating quote calculation drawing and other engineering data deliverables for steel utility poles while promoting leadership development and building Nucor culture within the team.
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Guide offshore team in the preparation of estimates engineering designs and shop drawings.
- Ensure deliverables meet NTS standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline workflows and improve turnaround times.
- Coach offshore managers to lead their teammates per the Nucor way.
- Contribute to team building recruiting and hiring efforts.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions to build technical confidence and leadership capacity.
- Support career development plans and identify training needs.
- Promote Nucor values and foster a sense of purpose for the team.
- Lead initiatives that bridge cultural gaps and enhance collaboration between U.S. and India teams.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication between teams without being a funnel for information.
- Ensure India team is informed and aligned with NTS goals.
- Help the team build KPIs monitor them and provide insights to improve performance.
- Participate in strategic planning to expand offshore capabilities and improve integration
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree or Bachelors degree in drafting engineering or related field
- 4 years of experience in estimating engineering and/or detailing
- Willingness to travel to India as needed could be as frequently as monthly for one week at a time for up to six months then frequency will reduce
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or in Modeling/Drafting
- 3 years of experience in steel pole design estimating or detailing
- 2 years in a leadership or cross-cultural role
- Experience leading teams in India
