Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

Pmotomoto is a service for ppi and whnau in the first 2000 days of life (conception to 5 years). It is supported under the guidance of Te Oriori (an established service within Purapura Whetu Trust) and has been developed in response to the large body of research that highlights the period of life as the most critical for early brain development. It impacts lifelong health wellbeing and social outcomes.

We are seeking a kaitautoko / support worker who wants to play an important and impactful role in supporting whnau and ppi in the First 2000 days of their lives.

Nga kawenga matua o te mahi Key responsibilities of the role

  • Provide a range of free and accessible health and social services for Mori as a first priority to help achieve the vision of Purapura Whetu Trust throughout tautahi
  • Support tangata whaiora and their whnau in the wider community to plan set and achieve goals to increase overall wellbeing
  • Support and advocate for whnau and ppi within primary and secondary health settings as outlined in our Kahu Taurima initiatives
  • Depending on experience there may be opportunities for involvement in group activities in education for whnau in the areas of parent education both ante and postnatally
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures as they relate to the provision of Te Oriori and Pmotomoto services

Ng pmnawatanga u What you will bring

  • Mental Health Support Work/Health and Wellbeing (level 4) or on the pathway.
  • Recent experience working in Health social services or education particularly in the Tamariki whanau space
  • Knowledge of Te Reo Tikanga and Kawa.
  • Current Full NZ drivers license
