In todays world of constant global security challenges innovation in defense is no luxury. After years of budget cuts military personnel needs to train and work with inadequate and insufficient equipment. We have an opportunity to change that.
At Intelic we are a group of highly committed professionals building one of the fastest-growing start-ups based in Amsterdam. We create advanced software for unmanned systems in the defense sector. As a software company at our core we build intelligence that give unmanned platforms the speed coordination and reliability that critical missions demand. Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at Intelic you will help shape the intelligence behind our unmanned platforms. Your work goes beyond coding: you will design and deliver software that ensures reliability autonomy and precision in mission-critical situations. Working with experts across robotics AI and systems engineering you will build robust back-end services and communication protocols while also contributing to team growth and real-world testing of your solutions.
In practice this means:
Design develop and maintain reliable back-end services primarily in Rust.
Implement communication protocols and APIs (REST gRPC WebSockets ROS MAVLink).
Write robust unit and integration tests to ensure system stability.
Optimize and manage our CI/CD pipeline.
Collaborate with teammates through code reviews pair programming and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to real-world testing and field validation of your software.
Job requirements
What You Will Bring
We are looking for an engineer who is both curious and pragmatic someone who enjoys solving complex challenges and is motivated by seeing their work applied in real-world missions. You have a strong foundation in software development and are comfortable working with modern tools and frameworks. You thrive in a collaborative environment enjoy sharing knowledge with teammates and are eager to grow alongside a fast-scaling company. Most importantly you bring a mindset focused on building reliable systems that perform when it matters most.
This includes:
Proficiency in a systems programming language (Rust C or similar).
Experience with designing APIs and distributed systems.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as gRPC REST or robotics frameworks (ROS).
Knowledge of testing methodologies and CI/CD best practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn quickly.
A team-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor or support peers.
