Job Summary

The Opportunity

The School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW has an opportunity for a Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is required to carry out scientific research on an aspect of an ARC Discovery Project on A Probabilistic Approach to Big Data-Based Industrial Process Control (DP). The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is expected to undertake research on control theory and machine learning techniques for project DP. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with the Process Control Group in the School of Chemical Engineering. This role reports to Professor Jie Bao and has no direct reports.

  • Salary Level A - $91381 - $121838 per annum 17% superannuation
  • Full Time
  • Fixed-term contract 24 months
  • Location: Kensington Sydney Australia

  • PhD in Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with process control and modern control theories including nonlinear control and stochastic systems theory ideally Behavioural Systems theory and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
