Mining Engineer Yilgarn Iron Hub Restart
TS Staffing are delighted to be partnering with Yilgarn Iron in the restart of the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub focusing on the development of key assets within the Yilgarn region.

Yilgarn Iron is a privately owned Australian mining company committed to restarting and operating historic iron ore assets in Western Australia s Yilgarn region including Koolyanobbing Windarling and Parker Range. Yilgarn Iron is focused on the growth and efficient operation of its assets within the Yilgarn Hub positioning itself for future expansion.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join the team at Yilgarn Iron. This role will be pivotal in supporting the restart of the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub with a strong emphasis on grade control mine design and the planning and scheduling of mining activities. The mining operation will be contracted out and the Mining Engineer will ensure that contractors align with the operational goals safety standards and long-term targets of the project.

About the Role:
We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join the team at Yilgarn Iron. This role will be pivotal in supporting the restart of the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub with a strong emphasis on grade control mine design and the planning and scheduling of mining activities. The mining operation will be contracted out and the Mining Engineer will ensure that contractors align with the operational goals safety standards and long-term targets of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee grade control activities ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of ore recovery and waste material management.
- Develop and optimise mine designs sequencing and schedules for contractor-managed mining activities.
- Utilise DataMine software for designing pit layouts scheduling and resource modelling supporting the contractor team in efficient ore extraction.
- Create and implement detailed short- and long-term mine plans ensuring alignment with production targets and ore body characteristics.
- Monitor and optimise drilling blasting and excavation activities to ensure that ore quality and recovery rates meet design specifications.
- Coordinate with the geology team to ensure resource models are accurately integrated into mine planning processes.
- Supervise the development and management of operational schedules including daily and weekly production targets to maximise efficiency.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to mining activities focusing on grade control operational efficiency and cost management.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety environmental and regulatory standards in all mine planning and grade control operations.
- Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in mining engineering with a focus on grade control mine design planning and scheduling ideally within iron ore operations.
- Strong experience in using mine planning software specifically DataMine for pit design scheduling and resource modelling.
- Expertise in managing grade control processes to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
- Proven ability to work with contracted mining teams ensuring alignment with operational requirements and efficiency targets.
- Experience with developing and implementing mining plans and schedules from drill and blast to ore extraction.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate with geologists contractors and other departments to achieve project goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a focus on continuous improvement.
