- 100% On-Site at Client NY
- Max bill rate: ****/hr
- Manager strongly prefers local candidates but is open to non-local candidates who are willing to relocate that their own expense. This is an entry level position so local candidates will be shortlisted before non-local candidates.

Top required skills/experience:
1-5 years manufacturing experience with:
- Strong understanding and practical application of classical control theory including PID control loop tuning and analysis
- Familiarity with advanced process controls technologies such as MPC non-linear approaches cascade control and feed-forward control
- Programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink
- Controls-oriented modeling (system identification)
- Bachelors is a hard requirement. New grads with relatable internship experience will be considered.
PURPOSE
- Client s MT&E division is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to support the development of new manufacturing processes and the optimization/improvement of existing processes to provide competitive advantage.
- This is an opportunity to have significant impact through increased process efficiency and/or plant profitability to the wide variety of processes and numerous plants in Client s different businesses.
-The position will be focused on the design development and implementation of classical and advanced process controls solutions within dynamic manufacturing environments through Client s global businesses.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong technical curiosity and a desire for project leadership opportunities.
- There will be a large emphasis on the application of controls theory as well as strong interpersonal skills to function effectively within cross-functional and diverse project teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific job responsibilities will depend upon the active project and may include but are not limited to:
- Working individually or alongside experienced professionals in multi-disciplinary teams to design develop and implement process controls solutions for manufacturing processes
- Working with subject matter experts to develop in-depth process knowledge and fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes to identify new promising process control opportunities
- Evaluating existing process control strategies and then proposing and developing enhancements/improvements to increase process efficiency and plant profitability (e.g. via increased yields or throughput); this could mean enhancing PID-based control strategies with cascade control feedforward gain-scheduling optimized loop pairing etc. or applying advanced model-based control algorithms such as model predictive control (MPC) internal model control (IMC) etc.
- Developing and maintaining MPC-based process control solutions throughout the organization
- Working closely with manufacturing to define appropriate hardware and software platforms for implementing process control solutions
- Facilitating the transfer of new process control technologies into manufacturing and providing training to manufacturing and engineering personnel
- Generating intellectual property through technical reports invention disclosures and patent applications
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel will depend on active projects; domestic travel can be as much as 25%.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with coursework focused on controls is required.
- A Masters degree is preferred.
REQUIRED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
- 1 to 5 years of experience in industry on manufacturing processes.
- New graduates with related internship experience will be considered.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

DESIRED SKILLS:
- Strong technical curiosity with desire to take on challenging technical problems
- Programming in a variety of languages such as Python C languages such as C# and Visual Basic
- Experience or a strong desire to learn PLC and other IEC based programming (ladder structured text)
- Experience working in or leading cross-functional and global teams
- Experience with MPC implementation and maintenance/tuning
- Experience in applying multivariate statistical process control methods such as principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares (PLS) regression for process monitoring and analysis
This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay someone for this position however as a supplier your expected pay range may differ: ****/hour-****/hour.
